I started by finding a high-quality photo of a water buffalo online to use as a design reference. Next, I used Google Gemini to generate a low-resolution digital prototype that perfectly fit a 32*32 LEGO baseplate. To make sure the AI could accurately match the digital design to my actual LEGO pieces, I took a photo of the empty baseplate next to a single 1*1 tile. I uploaded this photo to the AI tool, along with the low-resolution buffalo image and a list of the exact tile colors I had in my inventory, and prompted Gemini to generate a color scheme and building plan for me. The AI processed everything and generated a custom, square-by-square building guide that I followed to construct the final physical mosaic.

We sourced a basic picture of an owl and used a photo editor to convert it into a low-resolution image (320 by 320 pixels).After that, we used an AI tool (google gemini) to help us get the color scheme. We took a photo of our bare baseplate next to a single 1×1 tile and sent it to the AI together with the low-resolution image and the list of tile colors we had available. The tool gave us a tiled design to follow.When it came to the actual building, we started with the most recognizable silhouette using the brown round pieces. We laid out the pixels for the plumicorns on the head, the neck, the abdomen, the legs, and the wing.Once that outline was done, we fixed the eyes and the facial disc so the owl could get its face. Next, we filled in the breast and the abdomen using different shades of grey to give the feathers some good texture.Finally, we filled in the background colors, using greens at the bottom to look like plants and blues at the top to mimic the sky.
