For those thinking about driving linear motors from a microcontroller, it may help to know that the DC coil resistance is about 50 ohms, based on measuring the resistance of the two linear motors I have with a multimeter. You’ll need to use a MOSFET switch or an H-bridge to control them, but it doesn’t need handle a huge amount of current. At 5v, a coil needs only 100 mA, which even a low-cost H-Bridge or motor controller board should handle with ease.
