ELVIS AND TITUS

## **A LION WALKING BESIDES THE MOUNTAIN**

## We started by downloading images of different objects that included a lion in the fore ground, it is in the yellow colour which is worldlife. We also downloaded the grass which was green in colour portraying the rich natural vegetation cover in Uganda. Besides that, we also downloaded a tree being the habitat of birds, presented in a blue colour. Additionally, a mountain follows featuring the physical features presented in the dark grey colour. Finally, we also added the sun that stands for the abundant sunshine in Uganda.

**These are the challenges that we faced during the activity**

It was too Hard for us to choose the correct background of our shadow box.

It was also difficult to choose theanimal which was to be used.

It was difficult to cut and shape the shadow box because we forgot the measurement

We started by opening the pictures we used when making the collage. We then created a frame of the shadowbox measuring 5.62cm of a square and we then made a circular window of diameter4.2cm. We then had to align the two shapes with one center. After aligning the two shapes, we now highlighted them and used the combine tool and clicked difference. This made the shapes to combine them selves and they could be moved together.

After we tried to put all the images together if they could all fit in the window, but unfortunately some of the images could not fit like the mountain, so I made sure that reduce the size of the mountain, cheetah, antelope and the grass by cropping.

After doing all this, we had to select the images again and put them together and it was all accurate. We now had to select each image one by one and then use the combine tool and then selected union. After that we now used the die cutter to cut out each image one by one. We were mow remaining with the background. We made a mistake and put the window on it , so it also cut out the window and when we repeated it, it came out perfectly

ELEPHANT IN THE WILDERNESS AT SUNSET

SAM AND ELVIS

This shadowbox was an idea from the 2-D design we had. The 2-D design didn’t bring out all the life we wanted, and we wanted to somehow make a perfect replica in the shadowbox stressing the landscape, perfecting the relief and making the project more realistic. We therefore decided to use the same scene.

We began by downloading the images that we wanted to use in our shadowbox. We got a side view profile of the elephant, some palm trees, a big tree and a sun to give some life to the shadowbox.

We went ahead to trace out the silhouette using the remove background tool in sangala studio. We then began our composition with an elephant, the trees, the river flowing from the mountains, the landscape of the mountains, the sun and closed it with a white background. In our composition, we took care to make sure the main subject-elephant, appears at the foreground, the trees behind the elephant in the middle ground and the landscape with the sun sealed the back.

We found some difficulties when finding the right landscape that would match the edges of the river and decided to use the pen tool to make the perfect fitting mountain. We also found difficulties cutting out the palm trees due to the small parts on them, so we took extra care when weeding that panel off from the carrier sheet.

However, we managed to come up with the best we could despite all the troubles.
